Les Schwab Tires Invites the Sacramento Region To Make the Season Brighter for Local Families With Toy Donations

November 7, 2024

Sacramento, CA — Carrying forward an annual tradition, Les Schwab Tire Centers is partnering with the Sacramento Kings and Volunteers of America to collect toys for children of all ages in the Sacramento and Stockton area to enjoy this holiday season. These organizations are building on significant success, as Les Schwab Tires’ drive has collected more than 30,000 toys for local children and served thousands of families over the past five years.

Les Schwab Tires employees will buy toys from local retailers and also invite everyone in the community to contribute new, unwrapped toys from Nov. 11 to Dec. 13. Community members can bring toys to any of the 40 Les Schwab stores in the area during open hours: 8 am-6 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am-5 pm on Saturdays.

“Contributing to a toy drive isn’t just about giving gifts, it is about sharing joy and hope with those who need it most,” said Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis.

“Doing the right thing is central to all our work at Les Schwab Tires, and it means a lot to us to be able to play a role in ensuring all families have an opportunity to experience the joy of the season,” said Les Schwab Area Manager Steve Liebentritt. “Our commitment to service extends beyond our customers, to our employees and communities. We are especially focused on growing great kids, and toy drives are one of our favorite ways to do that every year in communities where we live and work.”

The Sacramento Kings have been a dedicated partner in supporting the Les Schwab Toy Drive for the past six seasons as part of their Season of Doing Good. The team annually fosters awareness of the toy drive throughout the community and during home Kings games. On December 1, as the Kings take on the San Antonio Spurs, the team will collect toy donations at Golden 1 Center. The first 200 fans who bring a toy valued at $20 or more will receive two tickets to a future Kings home game.

“Contributing to a toy drive isn’t just about giving gifts, it is about sharing joy and hope with those who need it most,” said Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis. “We are thrilled to continue partnering with Les Schwab Tires for this act of kindness that can light up a child’s world and remind them they are cared for.”

The Northern California & Northern Nevada affiliate of Volunteers of America (VOA NCNN) is one of the largest providers of social services in the region, operating more than 40 programs including housing, employment services, substance abuse and recovery services to families, individuals, veterans, seniors, and youth.

“Volunteers of America (VOA) is so grateful to be partnering with Les Schwab for the annual toy drive,” said VOA NCNN Development Officer Victoria Monroe. “Each toy collected goes to a child facing homelessness, poverty, or foster care. When you donate to the Les Schwab Toy Drive, you’re supporting families in need of hope right here in your community. Thanks to all for spreading joy this holiday season!”

The effort culminates on Dec. 10 with a festive community donation event that includes a parade and police escort after scores of volunteers sort, pack and prepare the presents for distribution.
