They seem to do well when it’s icy for a stud less snow tire. I have them on my GMC sierra 1500 4WD. Never had issue keeping good traction in the snow as well. For Icy conditions, Subjectively they seem to be better then my Discovery Snowclaw tires I had for previous 3 years. I am Avid Skier with many snow trips. I would purchase the Observe GSi-6 HP again..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Tire, Solid Price I bought these in mid-November in Western Montana where we had been having some mild weather with no snow until recently. The tires have been great on the dry roads, honestly not much louder on the road than the Michelin Defender LTX warm weather tires I run on my '14 Tacoma, but definitely a bit stiffer ride to the them, not surprisingly. They are a bit more squirrely on grooved roads, but that's to be expected with a winter tread style. We finally received some snow the first week of December, and the tires performed better than expected, even without sandbags or any weight in the bed of my truck (I do have a Leer hard topper, however). I drove in everything from heavy rain, to very wet thick slush, and up to 3" inches of snow and then VERY slick road conditions where the snow had been packed down on the highway and there was some serious glazing on the roads. These tires had excellent grip through all these conditions and only slipped/slid once going down a very steep incline, and admittedly I was driving too fast. My previous winter tires were the Cooper Discoverer Snow Claw (Studdable, but I opted for no studs) which were great, but the Toyo Observe just seem to have a bit more bite to them in all conditions....bonus points, they are cheaper than the Coopers too! I highly recommend the Toyo Observe for any mid-size truck, especially for a non-studded option.
