What is a wheel or tire alignment?
Alignment is the process of adjusting the angles of your vehicle’s wheels to original specs. When wheels are properly aligned to meet your vehicle’s recommended specifications, your tires will function better and last longer.
Why get an alignment?
Having a properly aligned vehicle means a smoother ride, better gas mileage, and extended tire life. And it can improve your overall safety, by increasing the amount of the tire in contact with the road and preventing your vehicle from pulling to the left or the right.
When should I have my alignment checked?
There is no recommended schedule for checking your vehicle’s wheel alignment, but it should be done
- whenever you purchase new tires,
- you notice uneven tire wear,
- your car is pulling to the right or left when you drive,
- you hit a large bump or pothole, or
- you’ve run into or over curbs.
Is four-wheel alignment only for 4-wheel-drive vehicles?
No, in fact, most vehicles can benefit from a four-wheel alignment. But it’s most important for vehicles with front-wheel drive and/or an adjustable rear-wheel suspension.
